Purpose & Background

The purpose of this project was to provide fraud investigation teams easier access to private transaction details within a secure environment for fraud pattern analysis & active fraud investigation while retaining compliance with corporate and international regulations concerning personally identifiable data. The origins for this project stemmed from the analysis of data using previous team tools which identified aggregate patterns of anomylous activity. The need for analysis of the individual transactional data identified in the anomalies was identified & this solution was proposed and developed as a result.

Additional Details

This project was my first experience designing and developing a large-scale multi-component data pipeline. I used the SERF platform (Azure, PowerShell) to automate processes which extracted and filter the data (SCOPE, C#) for later processes to decrypt (C#, WebAPI) and store the data (SQL Server). Developed processes in addition to extract metrics around all aspects of the pipeline for automated monitoring and alerting.

Results

The system was built successfully, resulting in the availability of additional resources for fraud investigation & the identification of multiple fraudulent methods and potentially millions of dollars in revenue either recovered or prevented from loss through these means.
